Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 16 October 2025

Scout AI (operated by Scout Consultancy Ltd) is committed to making joinscout.org accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We aim to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

1) Measures we take

  • Semantic HTML, logical heading order, and accessible form patterns.
  • Keyboard navigability and visible focus states.
  • Colour-contrast checks and reduced reliance on colour alone.
  • Alt text for meaningful images; decorative images marked appropriately.
  • Responsive design for common devices and zoom levels.
  • Regular audits during new feature releases.

2) Conformance status

Our goal is “partially conformant” to WCAG 2.2 AA. This means some parts may not yet fully meet the standard. We are actively improving identified issues as part of our continuous delivery process.

3) Technical compatibility

The site is designed to work with modern browsers (current and previous major versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari) and with operating systems that provide current security updates.

4) Assistive technologies

We aim for interoperability with common screen readers and OS accessibility features (e.g., VoiceOver, TalkBack, high-contrast modes). If you encounter an issue with a specific tool, please tell us (see “Feedback” below).

5) Feedback & requests

If you need information on this site in a different format (accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio, or braille) or want to report an accessibility problem:

We’ll acknowledge your message and aim to respond within 10 working days.

6) Enforcement procedure

If you’re not satisfied with our response, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) for advice: equalityadvisoryservice.com.

7) Known accessibility issues

We are tracking and addressing the following items:

  • Some embedded media may lack full keyboard controls or captions. We are standardising captions and transcripts.
  • Occasional low-contrast states in legacy sections; being updated to meet contrast ratios.
  • Older pages may have inconsistent focus order; these are being refactored to a consistent pattern.

8) Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared on 16 October 2025. It will be reviewed at least annually and after significant site updates. Our evaluation approach combines expert review, automated checks, and user feedback.
